Bejeweled 2 has been climbing back up the iPhone charts ever since its re-release onto the store with brand new features. Most notable of these is the inclusion of Bejeweled Blitz! The free-to-play facebook version of the puzzle game which has added a whole new realm of competition and addictiveness to one of PopCap games’ finest.

Last year was a strange year for Football games. On a very personal level, 2009 was the first time I bought a FIFA game in eleven years. My long streak with Konamis football games starting from ISS Pro ’98 and finishing with Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 was mirrored by most of the football gaming population. Konamis dominance throughout the PS2 era is well documented as being pretty unchallenged by EA. But with a new hardware increase came a new level of depth in FIFA, one that Konami just couldnt mirror with Pro Evolution Soccer. 2009 managed to change long allegiances and show a FIFA game that really had evolved and definately hadnt entered this competition to recieve a runners-up medal.

For the uninitiated Eliminate Pro is a new free to play iPhone FPS from the makes of Topple and Rolando. The game is a revolution of sorts by letting players fight it out in online arenas for free for a certain period of time before before having to recharge your “energy cells” thanks to the itunes store. This pay-to-play idea is pretty unparalleled on the iPhone but if there is one genre that it lends itself well to, its the FPS. The past few days i put Eliminate Pro to the test seeing if the iPhone was possible of matching the thrills of console shooters like Call Of Duty, Halo or older titles like Goldeneye and Perfect Dark.

The incredible and surreal puzzle-cum-platformer Braid lands on the Playstation Network after over a year of availability on Xbox live Arcade. The game won heaps of praise from players and critics and proved that a small indie game could achieve large success. The game is scheduled to be released on the North American PSN store on November 12th for $14.99 however both Japanese and European release dates are still unconfirmed but expect them soon after.

Telltale games has announced that the final three installments of their episodic Wallace & Gromit’s Grand Adventure games will hit XBLA this week. All three games have been available for PC for some time now and unfortunately for Xbox games there is no sign of a discount for their wait, as each episode costs 800 Microsoft Points.
More deets after the jump…

The iPhone as a whole is still a massively underdeveloped gaming platform the fact that the face of the iPhone only has one push-click button works against it for most gaming styles thats why there have been a huge lack of half-decent shooters, platformers, fighters and other multi button games. However, one genre that has flourished is the rhythm action game thanks predominantly to Tapulous’ fantastic Tap Tap Revenge series however the mediocre tracklisting and in-game advertising became all too much for some users (myself included) and caused us to stop playing. So when MTV Games and Harmonix announced that a portable tap along version of Rock Band would be headed to the iPhone/iPod Touch my fingers were already tapping the table with excitement.
